Jill Hawker from Treaty 19, moved to reside in Mohkinstsis, the Blackfoot name for Calgary in 2004.

I acknowledge the traditional, ancestral territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, including the Siksika, Piikani and Kainai Nations; the Stoney-Nakoda, including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and and Goodstoney First Nations; and the Tsuut’ina Nation. This is also homeland to the historic Northwest Métis and to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government Nose Hill Métis District 5 and Elbow Métis District 6.

Little Toad Pottery is located where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. This site has long been called Mohkinsstsis by the Blackfoot, also Wîchîspa by the Nakoda, Guts’ists’i by Tsuut’ina, and it is the birthplace of the city of Calgary.
